Online Education Modules (OEM)

Struggling with infertility? Having difficulty relaxing during fertility treatments? Have you tried fertility treatments but been unsuccessful and decided to move on to adoption or childfree living?

The American Fertility Association introduces Online Education Modules. These PowerPoint presentations produced, hosted, and narrated by an all-star line up of fertility and adoption experts. The topics vary from Yoga and relaxation to donor oocyte and the male factor. For now, the presentations are absolutely free for you to view, so please take advantage of the opportunity during this introductory period. This new and innovative approach to fertility and adoption education provides the opportunity learn what you want, when you want, in the comfort and privacy of your home or office. More OEM's are being added each month, so check back frequently, or subscribe to The AFA's email list to be notified.

The Infertility Evaluation

Serena Chen, M.D., is Associate Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Director of the Egg Donation Program at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science at Saint Barnabas. With significant experience and expertise in laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, as well as infertility and female reproductive endocrinology, Dr. Chen has also pursued a special interest in polycystic ovarian syndrome and gamete donation.

Infertility: The Male Factor

Dr. Natan Bar-Chama, board certified in urology, is Director of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital and is an associated professor of urology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He serves the role of Director of the Center of Male Reproductive Health at RMA of New York. He received his medical degree with special distinction for research in male infertility and also continued his urology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Bar-Chama was awarded the prestigious New York Academy of Medicine F.C. Valentine Fellowship and received subspecialty training in male reproductive medicine and surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine. In 1998, Dr. Bar-Chama received the Pfizer Scholars in Urology Award for leadership, innovation, and outstanding achievement in urological science.

Infertility and Chinese Medicine

Dr. Dao is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of California and is a Diplomat of Chinese Herbology NCCA. Dr. Dao has been active in the TCM profession as well as professional organizations. He was an examiner for the California Acupuncture Committee and also participated in the Chinese Herbology Exam development for NCCA. Well known and respected for his special interest in reproductive and gynecological conditions. Dr. Dao is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Pacific Coast Fertility Society, and American Association of Oriental Medicine.

Oocyte Donation

Richard Paulson, MD, heads up the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine. In August, Dr. Paulson accepted the position of Scientific Director of The AFA. In this Online Education Module, Dr. Paulson shares with you the history, developments, and other useful information as it pertains to oocyte donation.
